Dominic Cooper: From Howard Stark to Jesse Custer for AMC's Preacher
Dominic Cooper, who played Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger and Agent Carter, is close to signing on to play the lead in AMC's Preacher, The Wrap is reporting.
Preacher is a comic book series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, which tells the story of demon possessed preacher Jesse Custer as he journeys across the United States attempting to literally find God.
If Cooper seals the deal he'll be joining fellow Marvel alumni and real life girlfriend Ruth Negga who'll be playing Tulip, Custer's romantic love interest in the series (the Irish actress continues to play a major role as Inhuman Romana Flowers on Agents of SHIELD, so expect her character to be written out fairly soon).
The cast also includes Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, Ian Colletti as Arseface and Lucy Griffiths as Emily.
The series is being produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and Ennis and Dillion are on board as executive producers. The pilot was scripted by Sam Catlin, who scripted 10 episodes of Breaking Bad.
An airdate has yet to be announced.
